Consisting of 260 acres of water meadow pasture, Manor Farm, is based on the River Avon and is the heart of Eckington Manor. Located in an area of outstanding natural beauty and consisting of delicately balanced river habitat it is essential that the whole farm is managed in an environmentally sensitive way. As a result, the farm is being managed under the government's Environmental Stewardship Scheme which aims to achieve the highest level of environmental conservation. The cookery school is an essential part of the farm's diversification. Perfectly complementing each other, both enable the long term sustainability of the landscape.

The farm is rapidly gaining an enviable reputation for breeding award winning pedigree herds of Aberdeen Angus and Highland cattle, including several Supreme Champions. The aim is to encourage the restoration and creation of natural wetland habitats that are home to rare migrating and wading birds.

Wherever possible ingredients will be sourced direct from the farm.

Matthew Stoker, our Stockman, is responsible for the livestock management of our pedigree cows, sheep and pigs.  In his late twenties, Mathew already has an impressive CV.

At agricultural college he was student of the year twice and has judged Belted Galloway cattle at the Royal Highland Show. Mathew works closely with our team of  chefs in the cookery school providing them with the best possible meats from our award winning herds.

Highland Cattle
Highland Cattle are one of the oldest registered native breeds of cattle with an unsurpassed heritage.  They are slow to mature and are renowned for their hardiness.  They are ideal for life on our farm being naturally reared, grazing our traditional river meadows.  They offer a great balance between outstanding beef and landscape preservation.  Their grazing enables us to maintain the balance of the land and allows grasses and flowers to flourish.

Aberdeen Angus Cattle
Aberdeen Angus Cattle are another native breed that have deservedly become world famous

for the quality of their beef.  The beef offers the perfect balance between slight marbling and lean meat to ensure maximum flavour and a succulent tenderness.
